Her Story

 
 

 

Born and raised in Norway, Miss Hilde started her career as a dancer in European productions of West Side Story, Cats and A Chorus Line. At the same time, she was learning the skills for building costumes.  After arriving in the United States, she taught for several ballet schools, then ran her own school for five years.  In 1995 she joined the Long Beach Ballet, teaching the pre-ballet and children’s groups while honing her skills as a tutu maker. In 2006 she took over as the main customer for Long Beach Ballet and San Pedro Ballet, with productions that included Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Don Quixote, and The Nutcracker.  In 2007 she revamped the costumed for Shag with a Twist in Las Vegas for Jetsetter Productions.

Additional credits include Exhibit IQ’s Eww! What’s Eating You? featuring Carrot Top,  Phantom of the Opera and Fairy Doll for Darren McIntyre Productions, Colin Trevorrow’s  Jurassic World for Guillaume DeLouche, commercials featuring and produced by Robert Downey Jr., The Last Dance featuring Aaron Cash, and costumes for the Broadway National Tour of I love Lucy® Live on Stage.  In 2013 she opened Made by Miss Hilde in Long Beach, CA, and prides herself on designing and building clothing that provides excellent fit and happy clients for ballet, skating, dance, film and stages nationwide.
